Information session with Kranshi (September 8th, 2025)

On September 8^th, we organised another information session in collaboration with Kranshi. The session focused on birth registration and the acknowledgement of children by their fathers, topics that can have a significant impact on a child's legal rights and access to services.

In our daily work, we regularly meet families whose children were not registered at birth. Birth registration is mandatory regardless of a family’s legal status. Without a birth certificate, children may face difficulties accessing essential public services and exercising their fundamental rights.

We also encounter families with children who have a father with Dutch nationality. These children could be eligible for SVB (national social insurance), but they have not been officially acknowledged by their father for various reasons, which can affect their eligibility.

During the session, participants received practical information about birth registration, the legal acknowledgement of children, parents’ rights and responsibilities, the required documentation, and the procedures involved. More than 15 people attended the session. 

We are thankful to Kranshi for their valuable collaboration and for making these information sessions possible. By working together, we can help families better understand their rights and navigate important administrative procedures.
